HAJJAR SCHOOL STORE

The Hajjar School has some great news! The first ever Hajjar School Store opened this school year in March 2011. The students of Room 15, Mrs. McNamara’s class, were awarded a wonderful opportunity to create a school store from start to finish. Thanks to the innovative thinking of Mrs. McNamara, life skills teacher, and Ms. Taylor, speech-language pathologist, the Billerica Partners of Education accepted their grant idea. The Billerica Partners of Education were very generous to provide a $500 grant, which provided them enough money to begin this project.

The students first started to work as a cooperative team in selecting items to be sold at the store. They had first-hand knowledge of being shoppers as they took a field trip in Dec. 2010 to the local Billerica K Mart and Dollar Tree stores. In class, the students then learned about the jobs offered at the store (baggers, cahiers, and stock managers), and they each went through job interviews.

Children at the Hajjar enjoyed a Fire Safety discussion and practice with members of the Billerica Fire Dept.

5th Grade Chorus students presented their annual spring musical, under the direction of Mrs. Brothers. A great production enjoyed by the entire school and proud parents. Congratulations!
